ScreenTime.ie is a year old this week!
Twelve months ago, I looked at the standard of online film writing and thought to myself, “I can construct poorly-written articles filled with lazy observations just as well as they can, and with a smaller audience too!” While the site hasn’t exactly been an abject failure, it couldn’t be described as a runaway success either. More Phantom Menace than Empire Strikes Back then.
On the plus side, I’ve managed to get through an entire year without writing a jaded “top ten best of/worst of/most inappropriate use of double denim etc…” list piece, or introducing a rating system (in spite of the good advice of others).
It’s been a lot of work with very little reward. So if you are one of the few who ever took the time to read any of this stuff (or threw me a “like” on Facebook) I’d like to say thank you and give you a big hug.
I’d also like to thank the IFI, and the Irish distributors at Disney, Eclipse, Element, Fox, Paramount, Universal, Sony and Warners for their help in allowing me the opportunity to do this.
