Room is nominated in the main categories of best film, best director and best script. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay are also nominated for best international actress and best international actor respectively. Brooklyn is up for best film and best director, with nods for Saoirse Ronan for best actress. Domhnall Gleeson and Jane Brennan are recognised in the best supporting categories.
Room also swept the boards at last night’s Canadian Screen Awards, with wins for best film, director for Lenny Abrahamson, adapted screenplay for Emma Donoghue, best actor for Jacob Tremblay, actress for Brie Larson and best supporting actress for Joan Allen.
Producer Ed Guiney said, “We are delighted with these nominations and wins, it is very gratifying to get this recognition at home and also in Canada where we filmed Room for the amazing work of Lenny, Emma and our brilliant cast and crew.”
The 2016 IFTA awards will take place on April 9th in The Mansion House in Dublin.
